KIPP Austin

The Plan II/KIPP Partnership will be starting its second annual PlanTutoring program this semester for the 2009-2010 school year.  KIPP Austin Collegiate is seeking energetic and hardworking Plan II students to tutor high school students in all subjects.

PlanTutoring allows tutors to volunteer as many hours as they would like but requires a one-hour commitment per week.

KIPP Austin Collegiate has expressed a high demand for tutors this semester.  If there are any sophomores or juniors interested in being involved in the growing Plan II/KIPP Partnership, then PlanTutoring is a great program to join.

Please contact Jessica Collins by email if you are interested.

WHAT IS KIPP?

KIPP,  the "Knowledge is Power Program," was founded in 1994 by Mike Feinberg and Dave Levin, two young teachers who had just completed their Teach For America service. This program for Houston inner-city fifth graders has grown to a national network of 66 schools in 19 states and the District of Columbia, serving more than 16,000 students.

KIPP Austin Collegiate Expands to Serve Ninth and Tenth Grade

After many years of anticipation, the KIPP Austin high school finally opened in the fall of 2008.  That August KIPP welcomed 95 ninth grade students as the pioneer class of KIPP Austin Collegiate.  And what a great year!  In the first year, the school earned an exemplary rating on the TAKS tests!  This year KIPP is expanding the high school one grade level to add tenth grade and strive to do even better this year.
