Researcher Leads Underwater Archeological Expedition in Gulf of Mexico
C. Andrew Hemmings will search for submerged evidence of first Americans
AUSTIN, Texas -July 14, 2008- C. Andrew Hemmings, research associate of the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory (TARL) at The University of Texas at Austin, will lead an underwater archeological expedition July 30 to Aug. 12 in the Gulf of Mexico to search for submerged evidence of the first Americans.

AUSTIN, Texas -July 10, 2008- Music is an important part of summer. Each season, children enroll in music lessons and concert-lovers flock to music festival such as Bonnaroo in Nashville, Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

College Awards Keene Prize for Literature to Michener Center Graduate
George Brant wins for "Elephant's Graveyard"
AUSTIN, Texas -July 1, 2008- George Brant, a recent graduate of the James A. Michener Center for Writers at The University of Texas at Austin, has won the 2008 Keene Prize for Literature, one of the world's largest student literary prizes. Brant will receive $50,000. An additional $50,000 will be divided among three finalists.

Latin American Studies Professor John W. F. Dulles Dies
Son of former Secretary of State John F. Dulles studied history of Brazil
AUSTIN, Texas -June 25, 2008- John W. F. Dulles, professor of American and Latin American studies at The University of Texas at Austin, died June 23 at the age of 95. The son of former Secretary of State John Foster Dulles taught at the university for 45 years.

Track and Field Athlete Ready for the Olympic Trials
Liberal Arts senior hopes to claim the gold medal in Beijing
Austin, Texas -June 16, 2008- After winning the men's 1,500-meter race at the NCAA Track and Field Championships, Leonel Manzano, a Spanish and Portuguese senior, is set to compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials June 27-July 6 in Eugene, Ore.
