Rice University with a BA in English. Then a Masters in English from San Francisco State College.

1967 - 1972:

Ran a small - very small - printing and publishing company in San Francisco.

1972 - 1981:

Writer on the staff of Texas Monthly.

1981 - 2000:

Editor of Texas Monthly. During editorship magazine won many prizes including five National Magazine Awards. In 2000 selected by the Columbia Journalism Review as one of the ten best magazine editors in the country. Read Article.
