What's Needed to Complete the Application

The application deadline is December 15, 2009.

ApplyTexas.org will be active on August 1, 2009.

An applicant must complete and submit all of the following items to complete an application to UT Austin. Additional materials are required to complete an application to Plan II Honors (see below).

The University of Texas application requirements:

• ApplyTexas, (see How to Apply) This application must be completed and submitted before an applicant will have access to the on-line honors application or the UT campus housing application.

• $60 UT Austin application fee 

• SAT or ACT (with writing) test scores
  Plan II does not require any additional tests or scores to apply or be admitted.

  There is no reporting code for Plan II.  Simply report scores to The University of Texas at Austin.  Plan II has access to all scores reported to the University.

• NOTE:  scores reported on high school transcripts will NOT be considered and will not complete an application for UT or for Plan II.

• Official high school transcript (Your school may submit transcript electronically.  Paper documents must have the official school seal.  Photocopied transcripts will not complete an application.) See required high school courses. Plan II does not require additional coursework or special classes.

• Two essays (Essay A and Essay B). These essays must be submitted to complete the Freshman Scholarship application (very strongly recommended for all applicants) which has a December 1, 2009 deadline. 

• BeALonghorn Essays and Honors Applications webpage. The School of Architecture and the College of Fine Arts have different essay requirements. If an applicant is applying to Architecture or CFA, the applicant will need to submit Essay D, in addition to Essay A and Essay B, which are required by Plan II Honors
  
  Print and keep copies of every document submitted, including ApplyTexas.org.

To complete the additional requirements to apply to Plan II Honors, submit:

• Honors application.  This is an electronic application that's different from ApplyTexas. An applicant completes and submits ApplyTexas, which will upload within 24-48 hours. Once ApplyTexas has loaded, the applicant can access the on-line honors application. The on-line HONORS APPLICATION is accessible only after an applicant has completed and submitted the ApplyTexas.org application.
  
  The applicant will receive an email (and hard-copy letter) saying "thanks for applying to UT." That email tells you that ApplyTexas has loaded and the honors application is accessible. The on-line honors application is found at the link in the email or through BeALonghorn Honors pages.

• Plan II Honors academic/personal statement (contained within online honors application)

• Résumé. See Personal Achievement. This should be submitted electronically at: BeALonghorn Essay & Resume Submission. This is in addition to the résumé portion of ApplyTexas.

• Plan II has discontinued the requirement for a teacher recommendation.  There is no form, electronic or paper, for teacher recommendations.  Nor is there a form or requirement for counselor reports or counselor recommendations.
