Established in 1935, Plan II is a challenging interdisciplinary honors major with a required core curriculum. The core curriculum requirements include the study of literature, philosophy, society, the arts, math and natural sciences. With freedom to cross intellectual and disciplinary boundaries, Plan II students explore everything that makes us human in the best sense, from ancient poetry to the latest discoveries in physics and cosmology. Announcing a new UT student organization, Guantánamo Watch
Plan II Honors student, Daniel Friedman is inaugural president
Guantánamo Watch is a new student organization at the University of Texas at Austin dedicated to raising awareness about the United States' detention policy at the Guantánamo Bay naval base.

Two Larry Temple Scholarships are awarded to Plan II Honors students
Nicole Masole and William Cochran are Plan II Honors sophomores.
The Larry Temple Scholarships are awarded at the beginning of the sophomore year and are renewable for two years at $11,000 per year.

Announcing the 2008 Roger and Ann Worthington Essay Contest and Prompt
The Worthington Essay contest is open to all Plan II students.
A generous gift from Plan II alumnus Roger Worthington and his wife Ann made the Worthington Essay Prize possible beginning in 2002. Now a yearly competition, the Worthington Essay competition poses a difficult moral problem each year which entrants must answer in a short essay.

Watch the Final Presidential Debate :: October 15, 2008 @ 8:00 pm

The Joynes Reading Room will screen the final 2008 presidential debate on the Joynes Room 12 foot projection screen on Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Seating is limited; arrive early. Professor Trubawitz will host a discussion following the debate.

Undergraduate Research Scholarships
The award seeks to encourage students to get involved in research early in their undergraduate experience.
Eligible applicants include students assisting a faculty member with a research project as well as students conducting independent research. Application deadline Oct 31.
