Register online to attend an Information Session and a Plan II Honors class (registration required).

Miscellaneous notes:

While students visit the class, parents are welcome to continue in the information session with Jennifer Scalora. We will answer all questions from students or parents.

With advance notice, we can sometimes make arrangments for a few other classes prospective students to visit in addition to the World Lit classes, but these often conflict with campus tours, other college or major information sessions or dorm tours which are an important part of the UT visit. Almost all Plan II class visits are restricted to prospective students only. Most of these are very small seminar-sized classes; we do not wish to disturb the class dynamic with more visitors than current students.

Our Plan II Honors information session agenda includes:

10:00--10:50

* What do YOU want to do?
* Critical Deadlines        * What is Plan II?
* Housing                     * Core Curriculum
* Evaluation Criteria       * Double-Majors & Dual-Degrees

11:00--11:50

* Class Visit for prospective student

Continuation of Info session for parents (info we may not have covered in the first hour)

* Study Abroad
* Test Credits (AP, SAT II, IB)
* Early Consideration
* How to Apply
* What do you with a Plan II major?
* Plan II Student Organizations & Community
* Misconceptions about Plan II and UT Austin

We strongly discourage summer, weekend, or holiday visits as the only visit a prospective student makes to campus if he or she is interested in Plan II Honors.

Browse the Plan II website

We encourage prospective students to visit the University of Texas campus and the Plan II Honors Program office. However, before visiting, we strongly urge prospective applicants to thoroughly browse this website. Our website contains more information than we could ever cram into a one, two-, or even three-hour information session.

Prospective applicants should begin with the links on the main menu of the homepage to RESOURCES FOR APPLICANTS and ADMISSION PROCESS.

Locating Plan II & Parking

Plan II Honors is located on the fourth floor (room 4.104) of the WC Hogg Building -- directly east of the University Tower/Main Building.

The San Antonio Garage (UT parking garage #2, SAG) is the closest parking available.  The garage is located on San Antonio St, one block west of/parallel to Guadalupe St., between 24th and 25th Streets.  San Antonio is a one-way street heading north—toward 25th Street. (Beware of NO LEFT TURN signs if you are driving north on Guadalupe St.. You cannot turn left off of Guadalupe from MLK until the stop light at 27th Street.)

The Trinity Garage (TRG), located at the southeast corner of Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd and Trinity St (which is a one-way street to the north), is the most convenient to John Hargis Hall for the Freshman Admissions general information sessions.

Dobie Mall parking garage off of 21st Street-one block east of Guadalupe Street is also quite close, as are convenient (private) parking lots (pay by the hour) are located at 24th Street and San Antonio and at 25th Street and Guadalupe.

Transportation from the airport:

It's an easy drive from the airport to campus if you rent a car--about 20 minutes if not at peak traffic times. Of course cabs (relatively expensive) and the SuperShuttle (reasonable and reliable, http://www.supershuttle.com/) go to and from the airport. It's nice if you don’t need to worry about a rent car or parking around campus. Parking around campus is much improved from the old days, but the garage costs can add up. The large hotels, such as the Doubletree, have shuttles to and from the airport, but if you choose a B&B, you will need to rent a car to get from the airport and around town.

If you are coming straight to campus from the airport, the EASIEST AND CHEAPEST way is the Capital Metro Airport Flyer 100. It departs from the airport's lower level, close to baggage claim, and has just three stops before it stops at Dean Keeton Ave (26th Street) and Speedway on campus. See: weekday inbound schedule; weekday airport bound schedule; PDFmaps and schedules . The fare is $1.00 per person each way. (This is a fairly handy, although rudimentary, map even if you have a car and don't wish to use the shuttle service.)

Questions?

If you need hotel, bed & breakfast or general Austin visitor information, download hotel information (PDF 116K).

Download a Visitor's Guide (PDF 452K) for things to do on the UT Campus and around Austin.

And, for a map of a handy Capital Metro shuttle that loops around from Campus to many popular Austin sites (LBJ Library, Bob Bullock State History Museum, Blanton Museum, State Capitol Complex, Austin Museum of Art, Children's Museum, Palmer Events Center, Restaurant Row, Zilker Park, Botanical Gardens, Barton Springs Pool, and much more), download Tour Town Bus.

If you have questions or problems with registration for visits, please call (512-471-1442) or email Jennifer Scalora, Plan II Admissions Director.
