In Memoriam: William Evans Tichenor

He was born in Harlingen on May 15th, 1986 and moved to Dallas in 1988. He attended UPUMC Weekday School, Armstrong Elementary, McCulloch and Highland Park High School, graduating in May 2004. Willie was a freshman at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Plan II honors and business. He was a member of the Texas Iron Spikes and attended the Austin Stone Church. During the year between high school and college, Willie worked as a member of the youth staff at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Music was Willie's passion throughout his life. He was lead singer of the band CloverStreet. He loved sports, especially basketball, and was an avid snowboarder.

Willie was insightful, outrageous, and full of good ideas and big plans. He regularly accomplished his goals. Through the end he maintained a strong faith in God.

He is survived by his parents, Mac and Lisa Tichenor, his brother Taylor, his grandparents Ed and Jo Winton of Ft. Worth and McHenry T. Tichenor, Sr. of Hilton Head, SC, great aunt and uncle Bill and Medora White of Dallas, uncle Chris Winton and cousins Todd and Walter Winton, Matthew and Laura Coleman, uncles and aunt Warren, Bill, David and Jean Tichenor and families, cousins Bill III, David and Stephen White and Kathleen Neely and families and numerous other cousins, aunts and uncles.

A private family burial for Willie was held on Saturday afternoon, March 18th, 2006. On Sunday, March 19th at 2pm, a Celebration of Life service was held in the sanctuary of Highland Park UMC with a reception following in the Great Hall.
