Voting Deadline, January 31, 2011.
7th Grade English-Language Arts teacher Jeanette Wiemers nominated her classroom and campus last semester, and was chosen as a finalist out of hundreds of entries that were submitted. Wiemers wrote that students at F.M. Black are in need of a functioning library and basic supplies including technology and everyday materials. F.M. Black Middle School has been selected as one of 10 finalists in a national classroom makeover contest sponsored by Great American Financial Resources, Inc.
F.M. Black Middle School is the only school in Houston and the only school in Texas featured as a finalist in the contest.
Great American Financial Resources®, Inc., is helping three lucky classrooms receive a facelift with the third annual Great American Classroom Makeover. Teachers can win up to $2,500 to buy needed classroom supplies, plus an additional $2,500 prize for their school.
The three schools receiving the most public votes now through January 31 will be named winners. Black MS has the chance to win awards totaling up to $5000, including $2500 for the campus and $2500 for Wiemers’ classroom.
Great American Classroom Makeover winners will be selected by a public vote. Now through Jan. 31, 2011, you can help Wiemers move to the head of the class by voting for her at www.GAClassroomMakeover.com!
In addition to the grand prize, second place is $1,500 for the classroom, $1,500 for the school; and third place is $1,000 for the classroom, $1,000 for the school.
