Adelia Prado is among the best known and most beloved poets of Brazil. While her work is deeply influenced by her Catholic faith, it also celebrates the human body, combining earthly visuals with transcendent images of faith. She has published eight volumes of poetry in Portuguese and two in English, both translated by American poet Ellen Doré Watson. The first, The Alphabet in the Park, was published in 1990. The second, Ex-Voto, debuted this August.
The Joynes Reading Room is located on the east side of the Carothers Residence Hall at 2501 Whitis Avenue on the University of Texas at Austin Campus. Paid parking is available at the garage at 25th Street and San Antonio.
