Admissions

The Graduate Portfolio Program in Societal Impacts of Science and Technology is open to Doctoral and Master’s Candidates from any school/college at UT Austin. Students may enter the portfolio program at any point in their graduate work, but it is recommended that they do so as soon as they decide to pursue the portfolio.

Applicants must submit the following to be considered for admission into the program:

  • Completed Application Form (PDF, 44K)*
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • A 2-4 Page statement of purpose describing the relationship of the specialization in Societal Impacts of Science & Technology to applicant’s degree program, career goals, interests, and educational background; as part of this statement applicants must also include an explanation of the their proposed specialization and course choices. Students are encouraged to organize your course choices around your unique goals.
  • A scholarly writing sample
  • A copy of applicant’s undergraduate academic transcript

Completed applications should be submitted to Melissa Ossian, STS Program Coordinator, in the STS Program office in FAC 17 or via campus mail G6400.
