Nano-Kids

The Japan Federation of Economic Organization has created an educational site for younger generations in Japan. A mascot called ‘nahno’ navigates through the site, which consists of presentations and games for kids to learn about nanotechnology. This is an example of nanotechnology entering popular culture.

Contributions to international projects on nanotechnology include an Asian Pacific Nanotechnology Forum initiated by AIST (National Institute of Advanced Industrial science and Technology), and several projects conducted by JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) in cooperation with the Royal Society.

The Asia Pacific Nanotechnology Forum’s purpose is to engage approaches to networking, standardization, and societal impacts of nanotechnology throughout Asia. It is an independent non-government, non-profit organization, which facilitates the coordination of nanotechnology development and programs and cross regional collaborations among government policymakers, industry, R&D institutions, and leading researchers.
