High School Writing Instruction

Whatever career paths your students choose, they will need strong writing and critical thinking skills. College freshmen will be expected to draft, revise and edit their prose, and work collaboratively with other writers in their classroom. Successful workers must be able to communicate effectively with their employers and customers. Teaching students the process approach to writing, creating strong writing assignments, and developing clear evaluative criteria for their work will help you develop these skills in your students. This entire web site is dedicated to those topics, but in this section we've adapted them especially for high school instructors.

All material in this section is written by Victoria Davis, Dr. Eric Lupfer, and Dr. Susan Schorn, unless otherwise noted. Please do not use without attribution.
