Program in Western Civilization and American Institutions

Civilizations do not spring out of nowhere; they have parents. The confluence of influences that produced contemporary American culture includes the ancient Greeks, Romans and Hebrews, the riches of the Medieval and Renaissance world, and the founding of the American republic. Here at the University of Texas, undergraduate students can discover their civilizational roots through The Program in Western Civilization and American Institutions. This unusual, multidisciplinary Program helps them craft a course of study that exposes them to the very best that has been thought and written within this great tradition. Forty professors from a dozen departments participate in the program as affiliates, including many of the most distinguished scholars and teachers at UT.
