Giving to WCAI
If you are interested in joining our Advisory Board, please contact the Director, Rob Koons at koons@mail.utexas.edu. We are looking for alumni and other friends of the University to join us in our efforts to create a Center and a program of study, offering students a coordinated sequence of courses that expose them to the very best that has been written and thought about the big questions. By providing the leaders of the future with an ennobling vision, a sense of a larger purpose and a higher calling, a program in the foundations of our institutions can play a significant role in developing tomorrow’s leaders. The program will also provide an opportunity for the formation of a community that fosters and inculcates classical virtues of civic responsibility and service.
How to Give
We are looking for endowments in the following areas:
- General excellence funds ($25,000 minimum). To support our lecture series, junior fellows program, and community outreach (including executive seminars).
- Undergraduate scholarships ($25,000 minimum). To support the education in the Western tradition of students with a proven potential for leadership and service.
- Graduate fellowships ($50,000 minimum). To recruit graduate students with an interest in teaching and assisting in courses in the program.
- Postdoctoral fellowships ($50,000 minimum). To provide one or two year fellowships for young scholars with recent Ph.D.s, enabling them to lay the foundations of their academic careers through teaching experience and the enriching and deepening of their scholarly projects.
- Chairs ($1 million) and Professorships ($300,000). To recruit world-class scholars and teachers to contribute to the program.
We are also seeking gifts in the form of sponsorships for our ongoing activities:
- Sponsor a senior thesis prize ($1000).
- Sponsor an academic conference ($30,000), bringing leading scholars to UT.
- Sponsor a visiting lecturer ($3000-6000).
- Sponsor a series of alumni seminars on Great Books of the Western Tradition in your hometown ($5,000-$10,000).
- Sponsor a lunchtime discussion for Junior Fellows and affiliated faculty, led by a UT professor or community leader ($300).
Of course, gifts of any amount, no matter how small, are most welcome and will be put to good use. We welcome the opportunity to meet with you and seek your guidance in assisting the Program. If you would like to make a gift, please mail your pledge to:
