Junior Fellows
Junior Fellows Program
Students can join the Western Civilization Junior Fellows Program either by: (1) submitting a successful application to the Fellows Selection committee, or (2) by accumulating 9 semester hours of courses qualified for the concentration in Western Civilization and American Institutions. For a copy of the application form, email the Program Director.
Benefits available to Junior Fellows:
- A monthly lunch program, including a lecture by a UT or visiting scholar or community leader, followed by discussion.
- Opportunities for students to join in dinners with visiting scholars and invited lecturers (including leaders in academia, government, business and non-profit organization).
- Internship opportunities in government, think tanks, non-profit organizations, media, and business.
- Eligibility for a senior thesis prize.
- Invitation to an annual conference in western civilization and the principles of the American founding.
Application
To apply for membership in the WCAI Junior Fellows Forum for the academic year 2008-2009, please submit a statement via email to westernciv@austin.utexas.edu. In 400 words or less, explain the reasons for your interest in the program, describe your expectations of the forum and the type of contribution you would like to make to it, and give details of your studies, extracurricular activities, community service, and work experience. Only undergraduate students at the University of Texas are eligible to apply.
