Discussion Examines Eurasian Energy Security Dilemmas

The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law is hosting a talk titled "Eurasian Energy Security Dilemmas: Russia's Energy Statecraft and the Contours for the Great Game Redux" with Adam N. Stulberg, co-director of the Center for International Strategy, Technology, and Policy at Georgia Institute of Technology.

The Russia-Georgia conflict ignited debate over the strategic posture of a “re-energized” Russia: will it integrate with the world or venture down the path of a self-isolated bully? Russia faces tricky decisions, because its energy infrastructure and domestic regulatory environment blur the boundary between strategic and commercial energy strategies. Viewing the renewed contest over Caspian hydrocarbon supply through the prism of “energy security dilemmas” can help us understand the implications of Russia’s global energy resurgence both for Russia's future foreign policy and also for other countries' energy security.
