The Texas Politics Speaker Series presents a pre-session legislative overview with Senator Kirk Watson.
Watson served as mayor of Austin from 1997 to 2001, after which he became the chair of the Advisory Board of the Environmental Defense Fund. In addition, he worked diligently as the chair of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce. Watson has served State District 14 since 2006. He was named "Rookie of the Year" by "Texas Monthly" as well as earning a spot on the magazine's "10 Best Legislators." list. Among his many achievements, Watson authored the first statewide climate change legislation, led the campaign to build the first commuter rail in Central Texas and served as chairman of the 2008 Texas Democratic Party Convention.
Senator Watson graduated from Baylor University with both his bachelor's and law degrees.
