Amelia Koford, a master's student at the School of Information and the Center for Women's and Gender Studies, presents an online tutorial she created about conducting archival research on women's rights. The tutorial guides students through the steps of finding an archival collection, preparing for research, viewing the collection, conducting research and considering emotions and ethics.
Archival research can be confusing for students and difficult to teach effectively. The tutorial focuses on archives available on campus of The University of Texas at Austin, including the Benson Latin American Collection, Briscoe Center for American History, Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center and Human Rights Documentation Initiative. It supports the CWGS Embrey Women's Human Rights Initiative.
