A group of chefs will discuss the art of cooking in a talk titled “Foodways of Mexico: The Michoacan Dinner: Behind the Scenes."
The presentation is part of the "Foodways of Mexico” speaker series, organized by Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies-Benson and MexNet Alliance.
Rachel Laudan, renowned food historian and author, will give an introduction to the event to contextualize Mexican cuisine within broader themes of history and culture. Iliana de la Vega, acclaimed chef and owner of El Naranjo, will moderate the discussion as she interviews five chefs who specialize in Mexican cooking: Ruth Alegria, Benedicta Alejo, Cynthia Martinez, Rubi Silva and Kirsten West.
