Caleb Crain will read from and discuss his first novel, Necessary Errors, which is set in Prague shortly after the Velvet Revolution and the fall of communism. The protagonist, a young, gay American aspiring to become a writer, explores this new cultural landscape with his expatriate cohort.
Crain has been a regular contributor to the New Yorker and the Paris Review. In addition to fiction, he writes literary reviews, scholarly criticism and essays, and has translated eastern European literature into English.
"On almost every page, the reader is rewarded with gems."
