Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) presents a talk by John McKiernan-Gonzalez, assistant professor of history, titled “Onda Latina," a digital repository for recordings of KUT’s “Mexican American Experience” radio program.

The program was a direct precursor to “Latino USA,” and one of the first publicly funded talk shows that emphasized Latino experiences in the late 1970s. This talk will focus on the issues the “Onda Latina” Web site design team faced in making the radio show relevant to students, researchers and the curious public.

Coleman Hutchison, assistant professor of English, will follow to showcase his project, an audiotext of Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself." This presentation will highlight the problems and promise of integrating a diplomatic transcript of the 1855 version of  "Song of Myself" with six streaming audio tracks from different readers.

These presentations are part of the LAITS monthly "Friday Technology Forum" presentations, which showcase the ways faculty put technology to work in the classroom.
