The public affairs team promotes the life and work of the College of Liberal Arts to the news media, alumni, general public and the university community. We also publish the college's award-winning alumni magazine, Life & Letters, which highlights the research and intellectual life of our faculty and students and the accomplishments of alumni around the world.

Our office is here to help faculty, staff and students with various marketing and media relations efforts. Our services include:

Media Relations

Focuses on strengthening the college’s reputation and improving public understanding of the value of a liberal arts education. Working closely with the dean, the president's communications office, and the college's public affairs team, he oversees all aspects of communications services within the College of Liberal Arts.

Rachel Griess, Public Affairs Specialist II, 512-471-2689

Specializes in media relations, press releases and online stories. She manages the college’s daily clips report. Please contact for media inquiries, press releases and news items for the  college’s homepage. 

Web Content, Social Media & Student News

Emily Nielsen, Public Affairs Specialist II, 512-232-6504

Serves as lead writer for all print and online stories highlighting student success in the College of Liberal Arts. Manages and maintains the college’s social media channels and events calendar.


Graphic Design, Branding & Art Direction

Oversees art direction and design for the College of Liberal Arts and Life & Letters magazine. Please contact for any design related services (logo, website and printed collateral).


Life & Letters Magazine

Michelle Bryant, Assistant Director, 512-232-4730

Serves as editor in chief for Life & Letters magazine. Works closely with the director to assist with the development and management of all aspects of marketing and communications within the college. Please contact to submit story ideas for the magazine and forthcoming books.
