“Landfall” Exhibition Features Artist-in-Residence Laurie Anderson, Performance by Kronos Quartet

Fri, Sep 6, 2013

In partnership with Texas Performing Arts and the Visual Arts Center, the Humanities Institute welcomes Laurie Anderson as the C. L. and Henriette Cline Centennial Visiting Professor in the Humanities.

During her residency this fall, Anderson will meet with students, faculty, and the public, and present a musical performance and exhibition, “Landfall.”

Composed by Anderson and co-commissioned by Texas Performing Arts, “Landfall” is a multimedia performance that features a San Francisco-based string ensemble, the Kronos Quartet. This new performance showcases Kronos’s unconventional musical style paired with Anderson’s longstanding artistic interest in storytelling and the unexpected intersections between music, art and language. As part of her residency Anderson is creating an exhibition, also called “Landfall,”  that complements the performance.

At the outset of the residency, Anderson will discuss “Laurie Anderson: Collected Films and Videos,” an overview of her renowned video work. She will also participate in a public discussion on collaboration. The moderated discussion, “A Conversation with Laurie Anderson,” will conclude her residency.
