The Office of Research has made graduate students a cornerstone of our activities by collaborating closely with the Office of Graduate Studies and COLA Departments, Centers, and Programs.
Our office has established the Liberal Arts Graduate Student Advisory Council to weigh in regularly on important matters facing graduate students in the College. The members of the Council will coordinate efforts with the University-wide Graduate Student Assembly and the faculty Graduate Assembly.
Prof. Per Urlaub of Germanic Studies chatted with our Liberal Arts Grad Council last spring about his experience with Stanford’s Alternative Academic (Alt-Ac) career initiative Bibliotech. Alt-Ac careers have been a hot topic for graduate students interested in applying their Ph.D. skills outside of academia.
