The Office of Research investigates topics that affect the work environment for faculty and graduate students in the College.

Hightlights

  • In 2009, the Office of the Provost issued policies in support of work-life balance for junior faculty, inspiring Liberal Arts to appoint a gender council to examine faculty productivity, graduate student affairs, mentoring, dual-career hiring, and lecturers.
  • An internal survey about graduate student parents received a remarkable 40% response rate within hours of dissemination, leading us to take a closer look at how we support work-life balance for graduate students. The Graduate Student Parental Accommodation policy (see next column) is one result of this work.
