The Gender Equity Task Force Report of 2008 indicated that women are underrepresented as department chairs at The University of Texas at Austin, and that female professors receive fewer leadership opportunities than their male counterparts. We have confirmed a historical gender gap among department chairs and on the College of Liberal Arts promotion and tenure committee. The charts below demonstrate the substantial changes that have taken place over the past five years.

Women comprised 22% of department chairs in 2002 and are currently 43%.

Women comprised 11% of the Promotion and Tenure Committee in 2007 and 43% in 2011.
