Tactical Media as Speculative Practice

Fri, February 15, 2013 | GEA 109

3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Digital Writing and Reseach Lab (DWRL) Speaker Series presents:

The DWRL's annual Speaker Series event is coming up! Professor Rita Raley will present a talk titled "From Creative Cloning to Where-Next: Tactical Media as Speculative Practice." Raley will discuss the role of user-generated tactical media in social and cultural change.

The talk is also the first DWRL Speaker Series event that will be streamed live. Thanks to the hard work of Kendall Gerdes and Megan Gianfagna, the DWRL was awarded a grant from the Rhetoric Society of America to host a participatory live stream of the event. Viewers at other RSA chapters will be able to listen to the talk and ask questions through a moderator who will be using a webcam, a microphone, an audio interface, and a laptop running a Google + Hangout. A live feed of the talk will also be available through YouTube and the discussion will also be monitored via twitter feed. The talk will be from 3-5 on Feb. 15 in GEA 109. Light refreshments will be served.
