In May 2007 the Latin American Bishops (CELAM) launched a “Continental Mission” in their fifth general conference in Aparecida (Brazil).  The revivalist language of the resulting Aparecida Document (DA) and the mission strategy presented herein have a marked Charismatic influence.  Based on fieldwork in Guatemala, this paper examines how the DA is being received and interpreted by the Catholic Church in Guatemala and within the Charismatic movement in the country.  I will argue that the implementation of the “Continental Mission” will very likely result in an increased pentecostalization of Guatemalan Catholicism.
