10,000 Roses

Tue, April 2, 2013 | University Catholic Center; throughout campus

5:00 PM - 10:00 PM

The White Rose Society will be hosting its annual event 10,000 Roses April 2nd and 3rd.

From 5 to 10 p.m. on April 2nd we will prepare for the event by dethorning the roses in the University Catholic Center at 21st St. and University Ave. The dethorning is open to any and all volunteers who would like to help. We'll have special gloves, so don't worry about the thorns, and we can give volunteer hours to those who need them.

The following day, April 3rd, we will distribute the 10,000 roses to students, professors, staff, guests, and passers-by around campus as a symbol of remembrance for the 10,000 people who were killed every day at Auschwitz during the Holocaust. This event is held to promote remembrance of those who died in the hope that such horrors will never be repeated.
