The film will be introduced by acclaimed British actor Terence Wilton, who performs the role of Lear in London – and UTexas -- productions of Kung Lear . Mr. Wilton will discuss the performance of a “Russian Lear.”

Film is in Russian with English subtitles

This Soviet Russian screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy is a monument among Lenfilm Studio’s prize-winning films. The brilliant musical score was written by the Russian composer Dmitry Shostakovich, and the text of play was translated into Russian by Boris Pasternak.
