In the 1990s filmmaker Steve Kokker became intrigued with the lives and lifestyles of Russian military cadets. His familiarity with this subset of society led to the creation of the film "Komrades," which explores such topics as male bonding, hazing, patriotism, brotherhood and alcohol abuse.
