New Study Abroad Program offered in the Czech Republic

Wed, February 15, 2006

An outstanding team of faculty from FAMU and other Czech universities creates the academic synergy for an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the image and word, as envisioned by UT Austin Czech Studies Professor Hana Pichova. Students enrolled in "Prague Stories," the digital documentary course, will create short, one-camera documentaries and multi-image pieces of places and people in Prague. This course will be taught by a UT eyes of both the UT students and Czech storytellers. Students will experience Prague as a living workshop for exploring Czech culture, art, literature and film.

The program will host weekly cultural seminars given by guest lecturers. To supplement classroom learning, the program will offer students cultural excursions to diverse sites in Prague, as well as two out-of-town weekend excursions to UNESCO World Heritage sites in Bohemia and Moravia.
