Law and Society


Andrew Krebs is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology at The University of Texas at Austin. His broad research interests include Lay Participation/Juries, Court Systems and Prison Operations.

For his thesis, Andrew examined the in-court jury selection process of the Civil Circuit Courts in Cook County, IL. Using the data he collected in 2011, Andrew is now working on a paper tentatively titled, “An Appeal To Fairness: Exploring the Race-Effect of Voir Dire Techniques in Civil Trials”.  

Before enrolling at UT, he graduated with a M.A. in Sociology from DePaul University and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is also a proud graduate of Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, OH.
