Biography

David is a Ph.D. candidate in sociology and demography at the University of Texas at Austin. In his work, he incorporates insights and approaches from social theory, human geography, political science, and religious studies to study change and variation in family and fertility behaviors, with an emphasis on the places where people live and the social contexts they inhabit. His broader research agenda is to (1) understand how systems of stratification shape family outcomes in ways that generate and reproduce inequalities between groups and across places, and (2) examine the cultural and structural dynamics of social change. His projects address issues in population studies, social stratification and inequality, politics and religion, spatial analysis, and social theory.
