Norval Glenn Prize Winner Announced

Please join us in congratulating Yujin Kim, the winner of the 2014 Norval Glenn Prize.  Her paper, “The Associations between Black Men’s Imprisonment and Black Women’s Non-Marital Fertility Rates: A County-Level Analysis” was selected by a faculty committee consisting of Professors Kelly Raley (chair), Gloria Gonzalez-Lopez, and Debra Umberson.  Yujin will receive a cash award and her name will be engraved on a plaque in the Sociology Department main office.
 
Congratulations also to Caity Collins for receiving honorable mention from the committee for her paper, “The Promise and Limits of Family Policy: Working Mothers in Western Germany.”
 
The Norval Glenn Prize was established in 2011 to honor the memory of Professor Norval Glenn, a distinguished member of the sociology department for many years.  The Norval Glenn Prize is awarded each year to recognize The University of Texas at Austin graduate student with the best paper in the area of family sociology.
