Amrita Shah is a well-known journalist and non-fiction writer who may be best known for her regular column in one of India’s largest dailies, The Indian Express, where she is contributing editor.  She has been associated with various Indian and international publications including Time-Life News Service. She has edited features magazines Debonair and Elle.

She is the author of Hype, Hypocrisy & Television In Urban India (Vikas, New Delhi, 1997) and Vikram Sarabhai-A Life (Penguin-Viking, New Delhi, 2007). She is currently working on a book on the Indian city of Ahmedabad for which she has received a New India Fellowship.

Ordinarily resident in Mumbai, she is at present a Fulbright Fellow/Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Public Knowledge, New York University.
