Prof. Sadaf Aziz from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) will be give a talk on the post 9/11 efforts by the Pakistani state to moderate the state discourse of Islam to bring it into the liberal fold through a policy of 'Enlightened Moderation'. She will be analyzing the various methods of “religious managerialism” as a question of state sovereignty in the post 9/11 era. The paper will look at the career of Javed Ahmed Ghamidi a Islamist public intellectual who shot to fame during General Musharraf tenure.
