South Asia Graduate Research Journal Announces Call for Papers

SAGAR is a research journal edited by graduate students working in South Asian regional studies at the University of Texas at Austin. The journal provides a forum for scholars from various institutions and a range of disciplines to publish original research on South Asia (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives) and its diaspora. All areas of study are invited: anthropology, art and art history, communication, ethnomusicology, folklore, history, literature, philology, political science, religion, sociology, women’s and gender studies, and other related fields.

The next journal will now be entirely online! We highly encourage original material that utilizes the journal's online multimedia capabilities (audio, photo, video).

Article submissions should not be more than 6,250 words (approximately 25 doublespaced pages). Reviews of academic books published no more than three years prior to the SAGAR issue should not exceed 800 words. Annotated bibliographies on specific research topics will also be considered for publication. Please email the Editors-in-Chief with suggested books and bibliography topics.

Please include full footnotes and bibliographies according to the Chicago Manual of Style. The submission should be in Times New Roman 12 point font.

Contributors should submit articles digitally by email in Microsoft Word format (.doc). Illustrations and photographs should be included with appropriate captions. Tables may be included in the body of the text.

Authors must include their names, addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses, titles, universities, and year in graduate school (if applicable). Authors shall retain copyright of their articles if accepted for publication. By submitting articles, authors grant SAGAR permission to print them.
