Adriana Lisboa is among the most distinctive new Brazilian writers. She has published 9 books, including the novels,  Sinfonia em Branco (Symphony in White) and Rakushisha — the first one was recently published in the US and the second one is forthcoming in English in 2011. She won the prestigious José Saramago Prize in 2001 and has translated into Portuguese writers including Cormac McCarthy, Anne Tyler, and Émile Faguet. She has lived in and written of Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Paris and Kyoto, and much of her work intimately explores experiences and meanings of travel. She now lives in Colorado, where she is completing a novel, Azul Corvo (Crown Blue), and a book of photography and text about the human and natural landscapes of the U.S. Desert Southwest.
