Steps to Graduating

Graduation LibbyHey Students, there are a few things you need to know about graduation:

Step 1 - Official Degree Check

This is a review of your final degree requirements performed by an academic advisor in the College of Liberal Arts Student Division.  Official degree checks are intended to complement, rather than replace, regular semester-by-semester meetings with your departmental academic advisor.  You must have at least 90 hours completed and an officially declared major and minor.  Official degree checks are strongly encouraged during the semester prior to your last. Please call 512-471-4271 to schedule an appointment.

Step 2 - Graduation Application

You must apply for graduation in your final semester.  All courses must be posted to the official record at the time the graduation application is processed.  You cannot apply for graduation if you are concurrently enrolled at another institution with the exception of University Extension.  The graduation application is available from the thirteenth class day to the mid-semester deadline.  When the graduation application is accepted, you will be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremonies.

Side Step - Walk List

You can participate in the graduation ceremonies if you are not earning a degree at the end of the semester by signing the walk list.  This is a popular option for students completing degree requirements in summer, which does not have a graduation ceremony.  You must have at least 90 hours completed to sign the walk list.  Please be aware that signing the walk list does not constitute applying to graduate.

Deadlines:

The online application is open during spring 2012 to currently enrolled students from: February 2 through April 2.
