Academic Advising

Logo: Libby

Student Division advisors see students who are undeclared, undeclared and on scholastic probation, on scholastic dismissal, seeking a degree check, seeking an exception to degree requirements, in an emergency situation or applying to graduate.

Students will be seen primarily on an appointment basis; however, students will be seen by an “express” advisor on a walk-in basis for situations that can be addressed in approximately 15 minutes. See Appointments vs. Express advising (PDF) for more information.

Mission Statement

College Advisors embrace the idea that advising is teaching. We foster student development through partnerships and practices dedicated to student success. Advisors work with students to identify and achieve academic and life goals, encourage critical-thinking strategies, invigorate intellectual and cultural development, and collaborate with students to establish a timely graduation plan. In these ways, we teach the value of a Liberal Arts education for engaged, self-directed learners.

College Advisors uphold the integrity of the College degree plans through judicial and administrative practices and policies. As first-line advocates for students and College, we consider University, College, and other policies to ensure an equitable and honorable consideration of individual situations. College Advisors are dedicated to the proposition that effective advising is one of the essential elements in the attraction, retention, and graduation of Liberal Arts students.
