What is UTurn?

In the spring of 2009,  the College of Liberal Arts created a new program, UTurn, in an effort to assist our students in academic difficulty and reduce the possibility of academic dismissal. UTurn targets students on scholastic probation and provides them with enhanced opportunities for individual attention; in addition, the program offers the resources needed to succeed academically and continue at the university in good academic standing.

UTurn has been designed to create an academic support network and present students with the tools needed to make well-educated choices for the remainder of their academic career by providing:

  • An assigned Academic Advisor
  • Monthly group meetings and presentations
  • A student handbook of resources, including information on: time management, study skills, tips for test taking, and goal setting exercises
  • Supplemental resources from the UT Learning Center, including: free tutoring, one-on-one academic counseling, and supplemental instruction

The application period for Spring 2012 is now closed.
