What is UTurn?

In the spring of 2009,  the College of Liberal Arts created a new program, UTurn, in an effort to assist our students in academic difficulty and reduce the possibility of academic dismissal. UTurn targets students on scholastic probation and provides them with enhanced opportunities for individual attention; in addition, the program offers the resources needed to succeed academically and continue at the university in good academic standing.

UTurn has been designed to create an academic support network and present students with the tools needed to make well-educated choices for the remainder of their academic career by providing:

  • Free tutoring and supplemental resources from the Sanger Learning & Career Center.
  • An assigned Academic Mentor for regular one-on-one academic counseling.
  • A student handbook with information on: time management, study skills, and test taking strategies.
  • Optional Peer Mentoring.
  • Monthly group meetings and presentations.

Summer 2013 Application is now closed.
