Undergraduate students may not register for more than 17 hours in any long-session semester (or 14 hours in the summer) without the approval of the dean. In Liberal Arts, a student must earn at least 42 grade points during the previous long-session semester to gain permission to increase their maximum hours.
There are a couple exceptions to the 42-grade point requirement:
Students who meet the GPA conditions may visit the Dean’s Office (GEB 2.200) to raise maximum hours to 18 by the peer advisors; Dean’s Office advisors may raise the maximum hours to 21. Requests beyond 21 hours must be submitted in a General Appeal for review by the dean.
