Welcome, SummerStart Class of 2011!

Congratulations on your admission to the College of Liberal Arts.  We are thrilled you are joining us and hope that your years on campus will be a rewarding and successful experience.

We look forward to meeting you during new student orientation. If you have not yet signed up for the three-day orientation for fall, do so immediately, before all slots are taken!

This is the third year of the SummerStart program. Last year’s participants had higher GPAs than the college average—a great way to start your UT Austin career!

As a participant you will start taking classes in July during the second summer session. SummerStart offers several advantages for you:

•    Get ahead with six hours of course credit.
•    Enjoy smaller classes.
•    Save 15% on tuition.
•    Participate in special social events with fellow first-year students.
•    Adjust to Longhorn life before the crowds arrive.
•    Work with designated academic advisors regarding scholarship, internship, and leadership opportunities.
•    Experience Austin a month early!

You must complete a few requirements before arriving for classes in July. Below are steps to help you address issues concerning admission, financial aid, housing, course selection, registration, and payment of tuition and fees. Please review each step carefully and fully.

SummerStart courses do not begin until July, but the first registration period will be May 31 - June 1. If you have not made up your mind about when to start classes or want more information, discuss SummerStart with your advisor during orientation. Students who are unable to register online in the first period will have an opportunity to do so in July.

To navigate between steps, use the links below or the menu in the upper right-hand corner.

Step 1

Getting Started

Register for orientation if you have not done so. To participate in SummerStart, you must change your admission date from fall to summer 2011. You also must change your financial aid disbursement, if you have one, to reflect summer enrollment. If you seek summer campus housing, you must apply.
