Undergraduate students at the university are charged a flat-rate tuition. The flat-rate tuition covers all of a student’s academic program costs, mandatory fees and charges, all college and course incidental fees, and charges for all courses taken. The flat-rate tuition does not include any optional fees that a student chooses, nor does it include the legislatively required, one-time, refundable new student general property deposit.
For summer 2011, the Liberal Arts flat-rate tuition for a Texas resident taking six hours of coursework is $2,482. More information on tuition and fee rates is available online.
Parking permits. Space on campus is limited and purchasing a permit does not ensure a parking spot. In addition to C and M permits, disability and garage permits are available. For more information, contact Parking and Transportation Services at (512) 471-PARK (7275).
Analecta literary journal. Analecta is published by the College of Liberal Arts and the Liberal Arts Council. The fee is $10.00 for the summer session.
Student Speaker Series. This endowment is used to bring speakers to the university to lecture, teach, or meet with students. The fee is $2.00 for the summer session.
Your registration is not complete until your tuition bill has been paid, deferred to financial aid, or your zero bill has been confirmed. Paper bills will NOT be mailed; students can view and pay their tuition at the My Tuition Bill site (UT EID required). Payment must be received no later than 5 p.m. on June 1 (or July 8 if that is your registration day) or your registration will be canceled. If your registration is not completed by the deadline, you are not officially registered and you may not attend classes. Payment methods are listed below. For more information about any of these methods of payment please check Student Accounts Receivable (SAR).
Helpful tip: Consider taking advantage of eProxy. eProxy allows parents or guardians to access your tuition bill without having to use your UT EID and password. Please follow the link about eProxies for an introductory video, instructions on granting authorizations, and access procedures for UT Austin applications.
Cash payments can only be made in person at the Cashier’s Office in Main 8. You may also put your payment in the drop box in the hall outside the Cashier's Office.
Check / Money Order
Make all checks and money orders payable to: The University of Texas at Austin. Include your UT EID on these forms of payment. You can pay by mail or in person.
Electronic Funds Transfer
This option is available on the Web. You must have an EFT authorization on file. Authorization forms are available online or in a download (PDF on SAR website) format. Since financial aid funds are not electronically deposited in time to meet payment deadlines, students with financial aid should NOT use this option. See the paragraph below to pay with financial aid. The EFT option allows UT Austin to withdraw funds directly from your bank account. Withdrawals normally take place within 24 hours but may take up to three business days to process.
Important! Visit My Bank Info to verify that your bank information is correct. Also, make sure your account has sufficient funds. If the transaction is rejected due to an incorrect account number or insufficient funds, you will be assessed a $25 returned check fee, and your tuition and fees will NOT be paid.
eCheck is an online method of payment that functions like a traditional paper check. It does not require a high-assurance EID and can be used by anyone acting as an eProxy. Withdrawals normally take place within 24 hours but may take up to three business days to process. Please see our eCheck FAQ Web page for more information.
Important! Make sure your account has sufficient funds. If the transaction is rejected due to an incorrect account number or insufficient funds, you will be assessed a $25 returned check fee.
On My Tuition Bill, click View Bill, then if your financial aid fully covers your tuition and fees, click Pay with Financial Aid. Because financial aid funds are not released immediately, the Web will state a balance due until the funds are released.
If the financial aid does NOT fully cover your bill, the amount due will be reduced accordingly and you will need to pay the balance due by the deadline.
You may apply for a Tuition Loan and pay your fee bill on the web. A high-assurance UT EID and password are required to create the promissory note and electronically "sign." Questions concerning tuition loans should be directed to the Office of Student Financial Services, (512) 475-6282.
Tuition can be paid online using MasterCard or Discover at My Tuition Bill on UT Direct. A 1.75 percent convenience charge will be added to all tuition and tuition loan payments by credit card.
Note: Payments by credit card can only be made online. Credit cards are not accepted at the Cashier's Office.
Western Union Quick Collect
To use Quick Collect, complete a blue Quick Collect Payment Form at a Western Union Office (call 1-800-325-6000 to locate the nearest office), indicating that the amount is payable to "University Texas Austin," the code city is "Longhorns, TX," and the type of payment is "Registration." You must also give your name and student ID number. This transaction is cash only.
Special Case: Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan (formerly Texas Tomorrow Fund)
Students with the Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan (TGTP) can fax a copy of their TGTP ID card to SAR at (512) 471-0212, Attn. Special Billing. Include the student’s full name, UT EID, and a contact phone number. SAR must have a copy of the ID card on file in order to bill TGTP. For more information go to: TGTP FAQ
Special Case: Zero Bill
If your tuition bill is zero you must still confirm that you will attend by the payment deadline. To complete the registration for a zero bill, go to the “View Bill” option of My Tuition Bill and click the “Confirm Attendance” button. Note: A zero bill is different than having all of your costs deferred to Financial Aid. If you are receiving financial aid, you will still see an amount for tuition, and you will need to pay by selecting the appropriate button.
