Registration Advising
The University of Texas at Austin expects students to take an active role in academic planning. Registering for classes is fundamental to your planning. Appropriate registration of 14 to 17 hours will help you stay On Track to graduate in four years. The more effort you invest in planning your registration, the more benefits you receive.
- Run and review an Interactive Degree Audit to determine your academic situation.
- Arrange for previous institutions to send transcripts of any transfer or dual credit work not yet on your record.
- Identify any credit-by-exam courses not yet on your record.
- Print the Registration Advising Worksheet (PDF). Use it to guide your registration planning.
- Gather general information from the general degree plan if you are undeclared; from a major degree plan if you have declared or are interested in a particular major in Liberal Arts; or from a degree plan in a major outside of Liberal Arts.
- Gather specific class information from the Course Schedule .
- Gather in-depth information for many courses from the College of Liberal Arts Web site.
- Complete the Registration Advising Worksheet. Provide the most complete information possible.
- Make an appointment or walk in to see your academic advisor .
- Visit the College's Registration Web site for additional information, including how-to videos for registering.
