Where may I stay while attending an event at the Commons Learning Center?
If you will need lodging, view our list of area hotels, many of which offer special rates to our conference attendees. There is a host of other lodging options in the Austin area, including UT's AT&T Hotel, located on the main UT campus in central Austin.
Is there an emergency contact number at the conference center?
Messages for both Commons and WPR building attendees may be left at 512-471-5898. Please be sure to leave the name and location of the event you are attending with your office/family.
How are special needs requested?
Our mission is to provide the highest quality learning environment and support. If you require additional assistance or accommodation for your visit, please email us or call 512-471-5898 at least five working days prior to your arrival.
What are the hours of operation?
Buildings are open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and as required when conferences are scheduled on evenings and weekends.

Who may book the Commons Learning Center?
University of Texas departments and organizations offering education programs; however:
- Events may not directly result in financial gain for any individual, group, association or corporation.
- Political and religious programs and fundraising events are prohibited.
- Exhibits are allowed and may include brochures and catalogs; however, sales or orders are not permissible on the premises.
What steps are necessary to book a program?
University Departments must submit an IDT to make a reservation.
University Vice Presidential approval is required for all non-university customers. This process requires completion of an approval form and a cover letter stating the educational purpose of the program, billing information, and agreement to The University of Texas Board of Regent’s policies.
Once you have completed a Customer Profile, you may make reservations 24/7 using our online reservation system [UT EID required] or contact one of our conference coordinators. Call 512-471-5898, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
What facilities and services are available?
Our conference facilities offers meeting space in two buildings, the Commons Building and the WPR Building, located a mile apart in the northwest area of Austin, Texas.
Facilities include: 3 theatre style auditoriums; 11 meeting rooms; private dining room for 4;, Business Centers in both buildings; a dining facility in the Commons Building; three versatile atrium;, a wireless computer cart and state-of-the-art audio and video technology.
How much does it cost to use Commons Learning Center facilities?

What audiovisual equipment is available?
We offer a full range of AV equipment and computer labs, including on-site technical support. Some of our services include audio and video recording services and webcasting. For a complete listing of our AV equipment and services, please visit our Technical Services page.
Is internet access available?
Yes. All of our auditoriums, conference rooms and atriums have Ethernet connections, and our Business Service Centers are equipped with computers with high-speed internet access and Microsoft Office. Wireless internet access is available for a nominal service fee.
