MURRAY GOLDBERG

Murray W. Goldberg is a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia. Murray completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science at the Universities of Victoria and British Columbia respectively. After working toward a Ph.D. in Computer Science for two years, Murray interrupted his studies to take on a full-time research assistant position studying high speed parallel implementations of digital communication protocols. Murray began teaching in the department and in 1993 became a tenure track faculty member. In Murray's first year as a full-time faculty member he won the University Teaching Prize. Murray has combined his love of teaching with his computer science background to work in the area of educational technologies. Murray is the founder and leader of the WebCT project; software that allows instructors to build rich Web-based learning environments.

Murray also actively studies the educational effectiveness of, and student reaction to the WWW as a learning resource and has published 8 papers on his work over the last two years.
