This paper aims to draw attention to a neglected but very important field of reseach for historians. The study of the aged is generally a relatevely new area of social reseach. Among the yoruba historians, gerontological studies is yet to be taken up.It is indeed a neglected them in historical works.By focusing on the attitudes of the yoruba to the aged people in the society, this paper hopes to contribute to social history in the area of aging reseach. The paper present the worldview of the yoruba on the aged. It analyses the traditional setting and the basic institutional framework for the care of the aged. The paper equally gives a statistics of homes which are established to specifically minister to the needs of the aged. The paper ends by documenting the role of the aged in the preservation of the yoruba history and culture.
